As most of the other responders have said, it doesn't mean anything other than she's expressing herself.

A nose piercing is actually one of the least damaging piercings for a person's future as a 40 year old. The hole completely disappears once the piercing is removed. When my son desperately wanted a piercing, we allowed him (at 16) to have his eyebrow pierced. He was embarrassed by it at 18 and when he took it out, there was no evidence of his earlier foolishness so he was very glad we put our foot down against any other piercings.

My neice had 8 earrings in each ear as a teen and she bored through the upper part of her ears and all the way down. Today, as a young professional, she is very embarrassed at all the holes that are so clearly seen. She's someone who looks great with super short hair but she now has to keep her ears covered because it looks so odd. She's pretty angry with her mom for not having told her that those childish piercings would have a permanent effect.

We used to point out the ear holes in actors in period movies where they shouldn't have been pierced at all. That really showed my kids how permanent the hole is.

It's important to outline the future results of choices kids make. I show my sons photos of themselves 2 years back and ask if they'd wear the same clothes now, or choose the same haircut. There are a lot of examples in their lives that bring home the understanding that making a mark on themselves that is permanent and unchangeable today will make them unhappy in the future. My oldest son is now 19 and will never get another piercing or a tattoo and my youngest son is 14 and he sometimes wears magnetic "piercings" like the ones shown here..

There are spring rings that look exactly like piercings and the magnetic studs will stay on your nose or lip all day with no problem and will be indistinguishable from a "real" piercing.

I've never known the nose rings or studs to mean anything other than someone trying to be "cool". The bracelets however I have known to mean certain things to certain people. I'm 19 myself and have a 16 year old sister so I'm still a little in the loop as she tells me about such things. In certain groups of teens or at certain parties the bracelets can stand for sexual favors and when ripped off the wearers are those favors are supposed to be granted to the one who ripped it off. DISCLAIMER: It doesn't mean that to everyone! My sister and I found that this out the hard way after some boy she didn't know yanked one off her arm and demanded whatever favor he thought it meant...and she slapped him. When I wore them (just for kicks) it was for "fashion" and to be "cool". Now apparently some people have given it a different meaning. If he knows his daughter and her friends well then he shouldn't be worried I don't think.

just cause she likes it

the gummy braceletts no one really wheres those anymore but
like different colors mean diff. things and if the braceletts get broke and you don't burn them back together within 2 weeks then you have to do what ever that color meant

She's a teenager. She's rebelling. That's the significance of the nose ring. (Although, at 14, it is illegal to perform without parental consent. Track down who did it and file a suit.)

As for those @#$%&*! braclets, they don't mean anything. yes, some college students use them as part of an elaborate sex game. But really, we're just wearing them cause they look cool. What would really happen if some random person came up and snapped a jelly is that some serious yelling would go on. Look for the drunken frat boys if you want the seamier side of things.

Piercing are just a fad of the time. Im 17 and i have my belly and tongue pierced just because they are cute. The gummi bracelets are also a fashion statement, but in some places they are used to signify sex and each bracelet has a certain sexual connatation. Dont confuse those for the bracelet that have writing on them. if it says LIVESTRONG or BREAST CANCER it's not a sex bracelet. Hope i helped, p.s, that was on oprah.

I think that peiercing are very cuute in the teen world. i mean nose pierceing are pretty and all, but I think that it wouldn't look good on me. and I am actually not aloud to gte them. I tink the best ones are the ones that are very small, and have a little shine to the earring. so, nose piercings aren't bad at all. but it might be a pain if you are trying to clean it and you have to smell it, and put it through yor nose. and also people might think that you are picking your nose. lol, jk.

Nose piercings are nothing more than a fashion statement and the the fact she won't take it out clearly means that its also a freedom statement

Tell her neighbour to be thankful she didn't get a tattoo. I got my first tattoo when I was 15. At least the nose ring isn't permanent. If he wants to go to war about it, she may just go out and get something that daddy can't remove!

gummy bracelets and piercings can mean:

raver (techno music, drugs, baggy pants)
goth (black clothes, heavy metal music)
faux-punk (pins/buttons, hoodies, plaid pants and skirts)
or she may just like nose piercings and bracelets.

He could always just ask her if she feels like she's part of a certain group. He could go from there to learn about what that is.
