You must work in transportation or data communications
These are jobs that operate 24 hours a day 365 days, non stop.
Especially Telecommunications.
Usually we have a brown out period, no upgrades, or installations.
We just sit and watch the network to ensure nothing breaks down.
Usually we play cards, or bring a portable video player.
Just make sure the boss does not know, and we keep an eye on the network.
Typically we only have one person in every department monitor, typically there are 8 during business hours, nights 3 weekends 2 or 3.
Video games offer too many distractions and noise, we tend to stay away, too many tech got caught, because they were not paying attention.
Enjoy and good luck
P.S.
usually rookie's get this work.

I don't and would refuse to but you obviously have a task at hand that you are committed to! Good for you!
This sounds like a therapy group or rehab situation.
You can run movies to commemorate the day and have a
question and answer period about the movie and how it does or doesn't reflect their own lives. Christmas Carol, Wonderful Life, etc...
Play Christmas music and see if they are into a sing-along.
Play games like Trivial Pursuit and Monopoly. Or Charades.
If the setting is a bit more intense, try to open it up with a discussion of the Holidays and their own favorite things. It could bring you to a few of the ideas above.
Good luck and Merry Christmas to you!

I am working on Xmas day as well. I quite like it but I'm a midwife so its an enjoyable job anyway. Videos,DVDs, even good old board games like scrabble or monopoly. Cards are also a good idea but if you do gamble, make sure the stakes are not too high.
Hope this helps!!

Bring in lots of dvds and tell them to bring in some too. You could watch them and also make trades ! Also have everyone bring in cookies and have a cookie trade. You could also bring in board games like monoply or uno ...Maybe play a little poker if it's not against the rules.

Wow - long day!!! Are those hours really approved by your state?
By contract, we have to work every weekday for the state of Wisconsin! Three shifts are available and this is our busy time of year! So, yeah ... we will be there!
BTW - The correct term is Christmas Day! Not Xmas!

What's your job? It's a real shame that you have to work.....you could try card games, karaoke, taboo, pictionary (you have to guess what the word is by the drawing?), chess, scrabble, musical chairs, watch dvds....have fun!
