Well, without knowing the details of your specific situation (Mac or PC, computer specs, camera, operating system version, etc.) or how its connected to the computer (USB, FireWire, etc.), I can offer some suggestions. If you can determine the manufacturer of the camera, you can visit their website and download the user manual and latest software for your computer. Install the software according to the instructions therein, and don't physically connect the camera to the computer until either the software installer tells you to, or after its completed its install. This lets the camera's driver (the software that tells the computer how to control the camera) be completely installed and ready to recognize the camera. Good luck.

Nicely, with no learning the facts of the distinct predicament (Mac pc or PC, laptop or computer technical specs, photographic camera, managing technique variation, and so forth. ) or just how its attached to the laptop or computer (USB, FireWire, and so forth. ), I can offer some tips. If you can ascertain the supplier of the camera, you can visit their website and download an individual manual and latest software to your computer. Install the software relating to the recommendations therein, and don't bodily connect the camera for the computer until either the application installer tells you to be able to, or after its accomplished its install. This lets the camera's motorist (the software that tells the computer the way to control the camera) become completely installed and ready to acknowledge the camera. Beneficial luck.

Your web camera should come with a CD to install it.
If not, then plug in the camera and then windows should recognize it automatically. If not, go to add/remove hardware wizard. or just restart windows, it should show new hardware.
but most of the cases, you need install cd from vendor.
