BIG night for us -- New Year's Eve always is, but this year is special: it's the thirtieth anniversary of our first kiss. Woo-hoo! It's ALWAYS a big night because of the anniversary thing, but this year... wow. Thirty years... and I for one am not tired of her yet. :-)

So we'll have one of our very favorite champagnes, Argyle 1996 Extended Tirage brut (20% pinot/80% chardonnay, ten years on the yeast before disgorgement this year... it's exquisite). We usually have a kid-friendly New Year's celebration at 9 PM (Pacific) because it's midnight in New York, so we all watch the ball drop in Times Square and shoot party-poppers while the kids have sparkling apple cider. My wife and I usually have a "secondary" champagne at 9 PM, just a good average sparkler (it'll probably be Argyle Brut this year, I have a 2000 left over from last year's holiday case), and then relax and snuggle till midnight, when the serious kissing starts.

And between the champagne and the kissing, we tend not to drive anywhere. So we stay in, listen to music, watch the ball drop, drink really good champagne, and start the New Year off right...

Attend First Night in Boston. There's going to be different events going on throughout the city all day until the fireworks.

I have no idea. I don't plan things like that. I know I want be drunk. I can be thankful for a new year with a clear mind and go to bed with my husband and not worry about catching a disease.
