Depends. Generally, since O-chem is taken after general chemistry, therefore by older students who are used to college level courses, it's not a very high percent. Still, it's definitely higher than other upper level courses.

A lot of it depends on your instructor and your dedication to studying. I would check ratemyprofessor.com to see which instructor at your school is the best. And I'd plan to put the course at the top of your to-do list. It's easy to fall behind and since O-chem builds on itself a lot, if you miss one thing, you're setting yourself up to fail.

Of course not. The majority pass. Some ace the course. I myself thought that I wanted to be a doctor of medicine. I was depressed because I kept taking chemistry courses with the realization that with each course, I was leaving all that unlearned material behind. Finally, I took the sophomore organic chemistry course and realized that I was never in this world going to leave that behind. So I changed my major from pre-med to chemistry, went on for a BS, MS, and PhD in organic chemistry, and I have spent my life there ever since.

Depends if the majority of people taking it are dedicated or lazy. A big part of it does invole having a good teacher and being able to sit down 10 or 20 extra hours a week to devote to studying because it is an intense class. If you plan on taking it be sure to research your teacher. I've found that alot just don't care.
You can use ratemyprofessor.com or the grade my professor section of myspace.
good luck!

No of course not. I hated organic chem before. But now this is not the case. it depends on the method you are learning it. Its not that difficult.

In my class, only 5-10% of the class failed during the first semester. I never received a grade breakdown for the second semester.

I would have to say that it depends on the school and the teacher. I recieved an A but only 60% of my class passed. With another teacher, over 80% passed.

your university will have the feedback from years of classes available in a big binder with statistics about that sort of thing. there are kept in Faculty offices, so ask the Faculty of Chemistry at your school.
