Comcast is reliable but expensive. I like it. It's "comcastic" until you find out their website is chock full of ads.
Verizon is pretty good, it's not as fast and is against certain web activities.
Qwest is more expensive than Comcast (after the trial, it costs a bit more than comcast), and is slower. I remember they used to have insane requests for you to log in to surf the web.
I've heard AT&T closely monitors what you do online, so if you wind up doing something illegal, even by mistake, that explains the police ringing your doorbell
For dial-up, Copper.net is a really nice service. It's slow, but it packs a wallop for dial-up.

There's only one internet, it's an international network of computers.
Most traffic goes over the backbone servers which are quite fast although they're extremlely expensive to maintain. I don't know the price off the top of my head.
I do have high speed internet and it is fast, that's why it's called high speed.

YES, AT&T High Speed Internet is great value! It loads pages fast and it downloads stuff fast!

I have Netzero Platnium dial up and it usually takes 40 seconds to get online. Using a credit card it's $9.95. Getting it direct payment it's $11.45, $12.45 for 2 computers. It's my cheapest bill. I had AOL and Netzero is basically the same but cheaper. I only miss the AOL cards.

If your not uploading and downloading alot I wouldn't worry about fast internet
