you can call a gm service dealership and they can tell you.or you can check the overflow tank to see what color the fluid is.if it looks kinda orange or even red then its dexcool made my prestone and sold wherever car parts are sold.if its green then green it is.never mix the two.dexcool is for todays alluminum alloy radiators. the green anti-freeze will oxidize the radiator causing premature failure.there are universal formulations but i'd stick with o.e.m.you have an '03 which is still new kinda.
also fill only to the "full-hot" mark and most newer cars that have the dexcool do not require replacement for 100k miles

Ask the auto store for the new antifreeze for your car. Don't buy the one already mixed 50/50 cause ya only save a couple dollarsBuy it full strength cause ya get 2 gal for the price of one . Remember to try to add at least 50% water to your antifreeze and use only distilled water to prevent calcium and lime deposits

WOW a "certified mechanic for 36 years" and the antifreeze is the "red stuff"!!??
not all cars after 1995 take the "red stuff". my 1999 Dodge Ram takes the "green stuff" and my 2005 Chevy Tahoe takes the "orange stuff" but my 2006 Dodge Charger does take the "red stuff".

The coolant for your vehicle is Orange and is called Dex-Cool. I would recommend buying a bottle of it that says premixed rather than concentrate. Dexcool can be highly corrosive if you dont mix it correctly. If your coolant is low I would recommend having it pressure tested. The Malibu is known for lower intake manifold gasket leaks and can go from a slight leak to a MAJOR leak very quickly. Hope this helps...Good Luck!!!

GM has a special antifreeze. It is called dexcool i think.
Go to your local auto parts dealer and ask for it.

Use the Dexcool, but if you have to mix it (and I recommend you don't buy premixed like the other guy said), use distilled water with it. Distilled water doesn't have all of the minerals and calcium in it that tap water has, and slows electrolysis and corrosion of metal internal engine components.
