I've heard that and have wondered about it quite often. I guess a lot of liberals are only generous with other people's money.

Conservatives are just generous people. They prefer to choose what cause to support through donations as opposed to having the government redistribute wealth in the form of higher taxes.
Nightshade your have two major flaws in your argument. First, conservatives are against welfare and other social programs because when you have the government administer charitable services like welfare you have all of the waste and overhead that the government bring to bear on everything it does. Less than 50% of of the funds allocated to any given social program actually ends up in the hands of the people it is designed to help. Good private charitable organizations have between 80% to 90% of contributions go directly to the needy. Moreover, if a charitable organization become wasteful or corrupt an individual can choose not to donate to it. However, if a government department becomes wasteful or corrupt you cannot choose to not pay your taxes.
The second error in your statement is that Bush raised taxes on the impoverished. This is simply not true the bottom 20% of tax payers received the most benefit from Bush's tax cut. Everyone received a tax cut under the 2001, 2002, and 2003 tax cut plans. However, after the tax cut was implemented the total percentage of tax revenue collected from the upper 20% of tax payers actually increased, for everyone else it decreased.

Well, it's because they are too busy collecting other people's money of course. I work for the State and I have ZERO choice but to pay union dues whether I want to or not. I do believe it is about 1-2 dollars less per week since I am not a member of the union.
All to protect their right of free speech.... so they can send "republican hate" mail to me. They charge me to send me things that I don't want to read. Isn't that extortion?
All the while, they do whatever they can to collect my money so that they can give it away to someone else.
They are doing their best to push for Socialism, followed by Communism, so we are told what to do and how to do it every second of every day. TOTAL GOVERNMENT CONTROL is their agenda.They want us to be paying half of our paychecks to the government so they can decide what to spend our money on. They just never want to spend their own money.
They talk about how Republicans have all of the money, but they are always into redistribution of wealth and taxation, but I am about as conservative as you can be and I have no money. I am also not looking to them for a handout.

Its the Mormons who make the difference. They are a large conservative group that requires donation of 10 percent of their income.

It's a shame you can't see the hypocrisy of claiming Liberals are tree huggers and want to give money to welfare recipients and the lower classes, then turn around and show your brain rot by claiming conservatives are the ones who actually raise taxes to support the impoverished.
