Intelligence directs us towards doing right thing and long lasting. Motivation, though required, is short and could lead us to a wrong path.

Well, I think intelligence is very significant and useful, but without motivation then you've got nothing. I see tons of people who are doing a lot of stupid stuff in school, they have no motivation to learn or acknowledge the fact that they are intelligent and capable. So in ways, motivation is more significant and useful.

Without intelligence, motivation is not necessarily useful at all. A person can be strongly motivated to do . . . whatever. I could have an extreme motivation to make certain that there is nobody running around out in public without a band-aid in case they get an abrasion. If I were motivated enough, I may rent a truck, fill it with a whole bunch of band-aids, thousands! I could then go everywhere all day, every day looking for people to make sure that they are carrying a band-aid. I would waste alot of time, money, etc . . . but I could still carry out such a task because I was very motivated. This would not be very inteligent for me to do. (Just an example, band-aids are ok, you get the point.) Also, what motivates a person may not always be a good thing, or a thing in their best interest. Many times, crime takes place because of extreme motivation. Every day, drug addicts are motivated to rob some one for drug money. Murderers are motivated as well to do the things that they carry out by what ever it is that is driving them at that time, such as money, etc . . . Intelligence is the key factor in determining what it is that you are motivated to do. A more intelligent person is going to be motivated by different things, such as: family values, a good education, college graduation, advancing in their line of work, changing their line of work, morals, love, general long-term future planning, etc . . . Just going out there and deciding to be motivated without considering the reason is not intelligent. Motivation is required to do well when you have thought out intelligently before hand what you are going to be motivated to do.

Intelligence is the capacity to understand things, and motivation is the desire to do things.
Being highly intelligent but unmotivated, is useless. Being less intelligent but highly motivated, is BRILLIANT.
Intelligence is useless without the motivation to use it. Useful intelligence NEEDS motivation, however motivation does not need intelligence to be useful.
People who suffer from Downs Syndrome or similar conditions who are highly motivated can still get jobs and do useful and helpful things. People of high intelligence but choose to do nothing, simply take up space.

I have to agree that motivation is more significant than intelligence. Over the years, Knowledge has availed me nothing, Knowledge without motivation is not really living life to the fullest. Just my opinion!

It's not. What's really significant and useful is intelligence coupled with motivation. Then you can get things done in a meaningful way.

Who said it is. In my opinion and in those of many employers motivation is way more significant! Anything that someone knows can be found somewhere, for instance a book or the internet, so what good is a human reference book if they don't care about life or their job.
