Hi all, I just made the leap to HD gaming and chose the Xbox 360. I got Dead Rising and occassionally in between loading scenes it will say "Disc Unreadable Try Cleaning With A Soft Cloth" and take me back to the main menu for the xbox. I don't believe the system is overheating because it does this after as soon as 30 minutes of play.
So the system is BRAND NEW as is the game, the disc has no scratches and looks perfect. Is there something wrong with my console or perhaps the game?
Also, does anyone find it reads discs better horizontally or vertically?
P.S. don't tell me to get a PS3 or Wii because they are better, blah blah. I want advice, not commentary.

Lets just say your unlucky and u got the damaged 1.I got a brand new ps3 and i returned it because it was dameaged.My advice is to get another one.

I'm not what sure could be the problem, but I can tell you that the 360 must be horizontal. Not vertical like the commercials or the ads. If it is placed vertically the lasers inside the xbox cd reader will damage the cd inside and make the game virtually unplayable (experience). Keep it horizontal on a flat surface ----

I think your console is defected. I also have bought a new XBOX 360 a couple of days ago and when we were at the shop, we tested it out before buying. It turns out that the XBOX 360 was not working and we tried another one. This time, it worked. Not all XBOX 360s are garanteed to work. Next time, you should ask the shop to test it out for you before buying it. For now, I think you should bring it back to the shop and ask them for help. Oh and its better to keep your XBOX 360 horizontal, not like in the ads.

then its obviously a manufacture defect in either the game and/or console. they should both be under warranty because of the manufacture defect. you should look in the game manual and towards the end it would give u warranty info. for the console look in the console manual towards the end as well

xbox 360 you cant go too long playing them--its sensitive you have to break frequently while playing with it or just keep an air conditioner near the xbox 360 unit [unrealistiv i know] but i dunno what to tell you except take alot of breaks and save frequently.

It's broken. Microsoft makes 1 out of every 10,000 xboxes fail on purpose to keep sales up. You're screwed.

that sounds like an xbox,but yea alot of people say dat the xbox overheats faster because of less or no cooling 2 da system
