I understand your concern, I had a miscarriage w/ my first pregnancy at 10 wks. The doctors told me there was nothing that i did to cause the miscarriage and they never gave me any answers as to what caused it. I know certain medications and of course smoking, drugs, and alcohol can cause miscarrige, low birth weight and pre-term labor. I think the best thing you can do is relax and follow the advice of your doctor, eat healthy and enjoy the time you are pregnant. As for stress, it is not healthy for you at any time but I asked my doctor the same question with my other pregnancy and was told that moderate levels of stress, or just worrying about your pregnancy or health of baby would not harm the baby or cause a miscarriage. Relax and Good Luck!

About half of all early miscarriages happen because of a problem in the way genetic material from the egg and sperm has combined during fertilisation. It can be difficult to find out why this has happened but it is more likely to be due to random chance than to any underlying problem with either parent.
Imbalances in pregnancy hormones, problems in the immune system, and some serious infections (not minor coughs or colds) are also thought to make miscarriages more likely. The risk of miscarriage increases with age, because the quality of eggs deteriorate. If a woman drinks too much alcohol or smokes heavily, the risk of a miscarriage is higher. It is also increased with multiple pregnancies, such as twins.
as for stress: Researchers have long known that during times of stress, the brain releases several hormones -- including one called corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH). In past research, women who deliver prematurely or have low-birth-weight babies were often found to have high levels of CRH in their bloodstream, and other studies show a greater risk of miscarriage in women reporting stress. CRH is a hormone the brain secretes in reaction to physical or emotional stress, and it is also produced in the placenta and the uterus of a pregnant woman to trigger uterine contractions during delivery.

I'm sure you already know, don't do drugs or drink.
Some things you may not know are you should not lift anything heavy, watch what kind of medicines you take for whatever reasons(headache, body ache, or colds). now that it's winter you need to watch your step if there is ice, snow, or just wet. my sister-n-law slipped in the snow at about 7mo preg. and started spotting afterwards. but everything turned out great, just be careful
Sometimes you just can't prevent a miscarriage.
I have had 2 of them but mine was caused from having a bicornial shaped uterus which is kinda heart shaped and the baby could'nt grow on one side if thats where it was to attach to.
they say if you make it past the first trimester you are most likely safe. But you should'nt worry about that don't stress yourself over this okay. live your everyday life as normal just be careful, you will know whats okay and whats not. you can read magizines, books, and that might help you more
Good luck, Congradulations, everything will be fine!
enjoy baby!!!!

Most miscarriages are unavoidable unfortunately, a lot of women have miscarriages before 12 weeks due to chromosomal abnormalities. You have no way of knowing whether or not you will have a miscarriage a woman must just wait until she as gone past the 12 or 13 week.

I fell over the edge of a bathtub onto my stomach because the floor was wet. You probably won't have to worry too much about that as it was sort of a freak accident. Most are caused by health problems and it is best to stay away from alcohol and excess amounts of caffeine while you are pregnant. You can have some caffeine, however. Also, Do a lot of walking. It will keep you healthier while you are pregnant and make the birth easier. Of course there is also eating more fruits and veggies and keeping a balanced nutrition in your diet. When you are pregnant, quantity isn't as important in your baby's health as quality.

If there are genes or something that just isn't good, then a miscarriage can be unavoidable no matter what you do.
