Wow...kind of narrows it down, huh? Its a shame because your description perfectly matches my rabbit. He's litter trained and very cute and loving, loves to play with me or just sit near me and have his head scratched. Life span 8-12 yrs.
Most birds can live for 25-80yrs depending on type. Same for most reptlies, live a long time. Now fish meet all those requirements, but its hard to play with them cause they live in water. So basically, you are down to small mammals, hamsters, mice(i wouldn't prefer either as I have had them and though i gave them alot of space, they were completely miserable being caged) guinea pigs can be good pets, I have heard, but really they seem a little boring to me. And then there are the exotics, chinchillas, degus, prairie dogs and sugar gliders. most of them don't get too tame and I wouldn't want one much but maybe you would. Ooh, maybe a hedgehog, they're so cute, I would get one, but they're nocturnal and they're illegal in some states. Maybe a ferret? Some people say they are the best pets, but they can bite, so that would be a concern and they are a little smelly. Anyways, don't really know what you're looking for, but maybe this will help you get some ideas.

maybe a chinchilla or a cute guinea pig. I have never had either, but I hear they make good pets. A friend of mine had 2 ferrets, and they were cool and all, but they had to bathe them every other day, they are kind of stinky. And can weasel (ha ha) their way through and into a lot of stuff. Like couches, and get squished.

Would You believe that I have a friend who once had a pet earth worm? Admittedly, she was studying entomology at the time, but she would talk to it and change the dirt in it's glass tank. I should mention that it was one of those really big ones from South Australia which can grow up to 6ft in length.

chinchilla they live about 10 15 years . fish. gerbils guina pigs ferret, any thing thes are just idieas that i have and they make wonderful pets for me

I have a ferret. When they are babies they are really hyper and as they grow older they become more lethargic. They are really smart but sort of hard to take care of.
