What is the best barbecue restaurant in Memphis in the moderate price range?

Most of the locals will select the Rendezvous, but when we were there we went to a small northside ghetto joint which was even better. Sorry - forgot its name.
Actually the best Memphis BBQ experience is going to the BBQ Festival in late spring, xcpt that it's sponsored by Anheuser-Busch and so the beer sucks (hopefully they'll serve some of their new regional specialty beers next year).

Go to the Rendezvous or Corkey's. The Rendezvous is downtown and Corkey's is on Poplar ave. There is also the Germantown Commisary in Germantown a suburb of Memphis.

Go to The Rendezvous. It is famous for its bbq. You can even buy a thing of bbq and take it home with you to use with your own meals. Here's contact info:

Neely's. prefer to do the carryout. great BBQ
To be more specific the one on Mt Moriah just south of I240. The Rendevous is famous but not the greatest BBQ. Any local Tops BBQ is very good and very cheap and they have great burgers. Neely's brother has his own BBQ place called Interstate BBQ but I do not like it nearly as much as Neely's. Corky's on Poplar Ave is also very good and you can dine in. The folks in Germantown swear by the Germantown Commissary BBQ. I personally think its the worst around.

Speaking as a local, go to Topps or Corky's. I prefer Topps, and it is located in various places about town, you'll just have to check a phone book for which location is nearest you.
