For example: On MySpace, I can't view any pictures at all that are linked to a web page. Instead of the picture it shows a small white box with a red x in it.

Instead of the pictures a small white box containing a red x is show. I have noticed this mostly on MySpace pictures that are linked to other pages. I have deleted files, cookies, and set all of the levels to default on the internet options. I have also tried downloading Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft DirectX. None of them have worked.

You can try installing one of the DirectX versions. The same thing had happened to me and this helped!

You may be having a problem with your security settings. I assume you're using Internet Explorer, so open Internet Explorer, click on tools at the top, then internet options. Go to the Security tab of this screen and click on the Internet icon, then click the Default Level button in the bottom right, then click the Local Intranet Icon, then click Default Level button, etc. Do this for all of those icons, (Trusted Sites, Restricted Sites as well) If the Default level button is gray, it's already set so ignore it. then go to the next tab at the top, Privacy. click the default button in the middle here. (if it's grayed out ignore it) Then go to the General tab at the top. Click the Delete Cookies button in the middle, then the Delete Files button (this'll take a minute to process if you've never done this or are on an older or slower system) Then click apply in the bottom right if it's not grayed out, other wise click OK. If this doesn't fix it, Try downloading Mozilla Firefox (more secure, better controls) or try a new firewall (some firewalls [Norton, I'm looking at you] like to change your security settings without your knowledge, FUN!)

One of several items come to mind...
You may have deleted the files from your computer (if you have been able to see them in the past).
Your cookies settings may have been altered to not allow you to do so.
You may need to upgrade your browser.

Try downloading the latest patches, or upgrade your browser.
Also, if it only occasionally happens, try right clicking on the photo and choose "show picture"...
