I am with the person who says it sounds like sleep paralysis. I get that too sometimes, it can really get worrysome! Then again, it also seems like an elderly man I once knew said that sometimes he would have small strokes in his sleep and have a very hard time getting back going. ... But I have heard of the first one more.

I suggest you go see a doctor soon if you can. I can't afford to see one, but I have been having that problem for over 10 years now (it started in my early teens). So I guess it isn't too life threatening or anything, but still worth getting checked out when you can.

Go to the doctor for a check up. They may send you to a sleep clinic. It sounds like when you sleep you may enter into a very deep sleep and some of the neural stimuli isn't ready to react back in the fully awake state as soon as you wake up.

You could also try setting your alarm 5 or 10 minutes early and just spend that time consciously thinking about feeling your fingers and toes and the rest of your body. Allow yourself the time to readjust to being in the physical state. You might be able to reprogram yourself to be more awake by doing this. Your body will start to recognize the alarm as a sign that it has to get ready to start to moving and should help reset your own internal clock so you will be able to get out of bed quicker.
Good luck.
