Instead of building something to encase the egg, we need to build something to drop the egg into from various heights. It can't be more than 17"x17" x 7cm height to cushion the impact. The egg will be dropped from 2 meters, 3 meters etc... What are good ways to cushion the fall to prevent the egg from breaking upon impact?

Alternatively, you might way to try filling a 17" x 17" x 7" box with tiny chopped up styrofoam. You might have to experiment with the size to make sure that the egg doesn't push all the way to the bottom and crack. The idea is to maximize the size of the crater the egg will make without bottoming out, which means maximum distribution of transferred kinetic energy. Maybe you can have larger pieces at the bottom, and use sucessively smaller pieces towards the top of the box, to avoid having to experiment much with the sizes.

3 memories... 36'... 12 m. ... 40 8 '/s. ok. The egg has to stand up to an impact of around 35 mph. i'm staring on the sauce packs *** marvel absorbers. (what number do you think of you could filch in the past you're banned from Taco Bell for existence?) right here is my "layout": Use a extensive bag. placed a layer of straws - a thick layer, if the administrative isn't looking - over the entire backside. Fill the bag a million/3 finished with sauce packets. Insert a non-provide up, good layer of straws - according to threat 2 or 3 layers thick - down between the bag and the packets. place the egg interior the path of the packet platform and upload extra sauce to fill the bag to 2/3. (This leaves you adequate bag to fold over.) have been given extra straws? Make a thick layer on actual of the sauce. Fold over the actual of the bag and tape it incredibly, incredibly, incredibly securely. (you may make an hassle-free lady of your self and get permission from the Taco Bell supervisor to apply a set of his/her stuff. think of of the advertising mileage they could get!) i'm a hundred% useful that this plan could desire to artwork.

Try putting the egg in a cardboard tube with cotton balls on the inside. Then put the tube in a ziplock sandwich bag filled with packing penuts. Securely tape the bag onto the middle of a piece of poster board.

I'm pretty sure that this will work (I saw it at camp). Good Luck!!

A box with a stretchy membrane on top would work, if the tension was appropriately adjusted. A good material to try for starters would be nylon from pantyhose.
