iTunes is my default music player, so as soon as I put a CD into my computer, it asks if I want to show those songs in iTunes. When I say yes, it will show me the list of songs from the CD in iTunes. I just select all of them, create a playlist in iTunes and drag them to it. They get added to my Music Library and are in a playlist which I can then drag to my iPod when it's connected and showing in iTunes.

First, insert cd into your computer to be "imported" or "ripped" into iTunes. After iTunes has succesfully imported the desired cd, connect the iPod to your computer via USB cable(included with all iPods). Your iPod should automatically begin to sync with iTunes and grab songs from your iTunes library. If your iTunes library is too large to fit onto your iPod, then iTunes will prompt you to make a selection of songs for you iPod or iTunes will choose a random selection for your listening pleasure! =) Good Luck. (iTunes is a free download at Apple.com if you don't already have it on your computer.)

Insert an audio CD in your computer. After a moment, the songs on the CD are listed in the iTunes window.
Click to remove the checkmark next to any songs you don't want to import into your library.
Note: Next two steps are optional
If you want to remove the gap of silence that normally occurs between songs, select two or more adjacent songs and from the Advanced menu, choose Join CD Tracks.
iTunes imports any joined songs as one track. To change back to importing the songs separately, select the joined songs and from the Advanced menu, choose Unjoin CD Tracks.
Click the Import button to add the selected songs to your library.

Adding songs from CDs to your library
You can import songs from your CDs into your iTunes library. Imported songs are encoded and stored on your hard disk so that you can listen to them without having the original CD. The default encoding format is AAC.
For the best performance and results, use the computer's internal CD or DVD drive to import songs.
Insert an audio CD into your computer. After a moment, the songs on the CD are listed in the iTunes window.
Click to remove the checkmark next to any songs you don't want to import.
To remove the gap of silence that normally occurs between songs, make sure the songs on the CD are sorted by track number in ascending order (click the top of the first column so that it's blue and you see a triangle that points up), then select two or more adjacent songs and choose Advanced > Join CD Tracks.
iTunes imports any joined songs as one track. To change back to importing the songs separately, select the joined songs and choose Advanced > Unjoin CD Tracks.
To add the selected songs to your library, click the Import button in the upper-right corner of the iTunes window.
The display area at the top of the iTunes window shows how much time it will take to import each song. To cancel importing, click the small X next to the progress bar.
When the songs are finished importing, click the Eject symbol to the right of the CD in the playlist, or click the Eject Disk button in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.
By default, iTunes plays songs while they're being imported. You can click the Pause button to stop playback, or continue to use iTunes for other tasks; the import will continue. You can also stop iTunes from playing songs automatically by deselecting the "Play songs while importing" checkbox in the Advanced pane of iTunes Preferences (in the Importing section).
If you have trouble importing or the imported songs don't sound right, search "iTunes and Music Store Help" for more information.
