Most community colleges have Associate degree programs for Fashion Design, Merchandising, or other fashion programs. Even if you take a few classes, it will help tremendously.
You should move as soon as you can to a place where fashion is a big industry, LA or New York. You can get a job with a fashion designer, you should use your experience in accounting. If you get a job in the accounting department of a fashion company, then go to school, it will give you a leg-up to move to another department after you complete your classes and a job you want opens up. Most companies would prefer to promote from within.
Good luck!

You could try working in the accounting office at a fashion company to start out, and then narrow your focus once your foot is in the door. My cousin is a successful buyer. She started working at the Limited at 14 and convinced a VP to give her a job as a buyer after calling him many times throughout her senior year of college, letting him know she was almost a graduate. Your business skills are definitely a plus. You will have to be persistent.

Are you close up to a great city the place great companies would desire merchandisers for their product in retail shops? if so then i'd call between the businesses you have been involved in(after doing my company learn) and ask to talk to the HR dept. they won't have the potential to respond to the question promptly yet they are able to show you in the splendid course. you will in all hazard choose to talk with somebody in retail revenues / advertising. it particularly is going to take some telephone calls so don't be discouraged. desire this facilitates.
