a movie based on a story by Stephen King about a man who moves with his family to take care of a hotel in the mountains. His son has the gift of foresight (the "shining") and sees many terrible things that will be happening or have happened. The family is snowbound for the winter and the man starts going insane. I won't tell you anymore, you might want to see it for yourself.

In Stephen King's book The Shining, and in the film by the same name, the title refers to ESP, extra-sensory perception. That's how Danny is able to see the little girls and how John (the father) is able to carry on conversations with people long dead.

It was first a book by Stephen King and was later made into a movie directed by Stanley Kubrick. It is about a writer who moves with his wife and young son to a remote hotel to be the caretakers for the winter. It turns out the hotel is seriously haunted and drives the writer insane and he tries to kill his wife and son. The Shining refers to the psychic powers the writer's son possesses.

THE SHINING IS THE ABILITY TO SEE THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED IN A ROOM. IN THE CASE OF DANNY, HE WAS BORN WITH PART OF HIS HEAD COVERED BY A CAUL(A TYPE OF SKIN). THESE CHILDREN ARE CONSIDERED SPECIAL AND HAVE THIS ABILITY. MOST OF THE TIME, THEY CAN ONLY SENSE BAD THINGS. IT DOESN'T ALWAYS STAY WITH THEM. LIKE ALL ABILITIES, IF YOU DON'T USE IT, IT DISSIPATES WITH TIME.
