Yes you can be "punk" and still follow God because then you get some of the lost ones in your genre to turn to Christ by your words and actions. You may think about writing some Christian music in "punk rock " form. You seem to be very intelligent and I know you can do it. There are plenty of different kinds of contemporary christian music. Good Luck and God Bless!!!

If the music disturbs you, try listening to different songs or different artists. Try writing more positively. I can suggest a few songs...
A Feeling - Throwing Muses
Extraordinary Machine - Fiona Apple
Spend A Little Time - Joan Armatrading
Butterfly - DDR
Ecce Gratum (Club Mix) - Qntal
Where Your Eyes Don't Go - They Might Be Giants
Someone Take My Heart Away - Edgar Winters Group
Mexican Radio - Wall Of Voodoo
I'm Not Saying - Nico
Break It Up - Rocket From The Crypt
Say What You Mean - Lunachicks
Clocks - Twelve Girls Band
Have a good time! :)

Yeah, you can.
I suggest if you really believe in God and sincerely want to follow Him, you should not write music that contradicts Him if you are a true believer. You should consider changing the lyrics to your songs.
As long as you're not "gothic punk" or any of those devil worshippers, and just plain normal "punk", then of course you can follow God.

Hi. Good question. Think about it with a little common sense and compassion. If God really is like a wise and loving parent, then she is going to understand the need for her daughter to grow creatively. After all, she gave you the mind, the talent, the curiosity, and the rebelliousness to be who you are. She is not going to be upset or angry if you use these gifts. In fact, she will be delighted. So even if your lyrics challenge what other people think about God or talk about hard truth involving all of us, including organized religions: then please go right ahead and speak the truth. You loving mother God will not mind because she wants you to tell that truth for her.

The most important thing to remember is not to pigeonhole yourself. If conventional "punk rock" values don't agree with yours, why try to align your songwriting to them? Write based on your own beliefs, opinions, and integrity, and pour your love into what you do, and chances are you'll come up with better stuff.

read "conversations with god" and explore the idea of god being everything and therefore impossible to contradict and or make unhappy. So I say rock on kid and let yourself become the greatest expression of god you can be. Which is what you are by the way.

just say you like the guitar parts, and the feel, not the lyrics. Heck, i listen to stuff that is sumtimes satanic, nd im still big on God. Don't worry, he knows you aren't disbelieving in him, you just want to hear music.

then make a song confirming what you believe and mention your debate within yourself. A lot of rappers have faith and still have to bring it back, punk shoudnt be any different....
