I believe that you have mistyped the mirriam-webster website. I googled it and their website is MERRiam-webster dot com. I did not open that/your stated website. Is it a bad place to go? Hope not.

It just means they have bought several addresses, and have them all linked to the same IP, as people regularly spell it wrong.

Change it from mirriam to merriam in the web address and you get to the same page, as does simply dropping the mirriam/merriam and using webster.com.

EDIT
All the addresses given in the answers to this question are directed to the same IP address, it doesn't matter which of them you use.

I get these when I search merriam webster onlline dictionary:

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary.htm

http://www3.merriam-webster.com/opendictionary/

But that is odd - must be a typo on whoever set the site up.

As far as I know, the website for Merriam-Webster online dictionary is:

http://www.m-w.com/

I think they want people to subscribe to their website to get definitions, so I would recommend instead using:
http://www.dictionary.com/

Not sure if that's a typo but you can type in www.m-w.com and get the same website as the one you've shown.

that website is the wrong website. the right website for merriam webster is...
http://www.m-w.com/
I have no idea what website that is. Cause it's definitely not the dictionary... lolz (it's a dictionary site, how could they not spell their OWN NAME right? lolz)
:)

sometimes companies have 2 sites in case people type the wrong thing, and so you aren't just directed to a porn site.

It is an ALIAS, which automatically redirects you to the proper site.

They do that because they want people who can't spell to still be able to find their website.
