I have a yeast infection and it won't go away. I'm allergic to monistat, but I have also tried diflucan, yogurt, and vinegar and water. Nothing works.

Go see the doctor. It is probably not a yeast infection.

Yeast infections are caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans. Yeast are tiny organisms that normally live in small numbers on the skin. They typically occur from the teenage years though the late 30s, although they have been diagnosed in women as young as 10, and as old as 60. Yeast infections are not caused by sexual activity.

A yeast infection can be very uncomfortable, but are usually not serious. Symptoms include the following:

- Itching and burning sensations; soreness
- White discharge
- Pain during intercourse
- Swelling

Not everyone will experience the same symptoms, and it is quite normal to only experience one or two of these symptoms. All symptoms do not need to be present to signify a yeast infection.

A yeast infection is easily treated with a variety of available medicines. Typically, these medicines are applied directly to the infected area. Typical examples of yeast infection medication include vaginal creams that may be applied with specially designed applicators, or suppositories that are placed in the vaginal cavity and left to dissolve and treat the infection.

Other medicines are available to help treat irritating symptoms, such as itching, and there are also oral medications that can be swallowed. Many of these medications are available over the counter, and do not require a prescription.

Experts recommend that you see a doctor the first time you experience a yeast infection, if they reoccur frequently, or if you have not seen any improvement within three days of administering over the counter medications.

A study in 2002 concluded that only thirty-three percent of women who were self treating for a yeast infection actually had one. The other sixty-six percent had misdiagnosed themselves or they had missed the subtle differences between diseases. Make sure you consult your doctor if you are not 100% sure you have a yeast infection.

I have had this problem for a while also. It started out as a yeast infection, but it spread to a kidney infection and a urinary tract infection. I had tried all the things that you have tried and nothing worked. Nothing has worked still yet, I am going to a specialist soon.

See your doctor, they will try some more prescription drugs for you and if that don't work then you need to see a specialist also.

Good luck to the both of us!

First of all, If you are taking antibiotics, they are probably the culprit. It could be something else but you should first identify what is causing your body to allow the yeast to grow. Something you can try is to cut back on refined sugar and refined flour. This is difficult but is the same concept of the low carb diet so you could just follow a menu plan off the web. If your body has too much sugar in it, the yeast has lots to feed on so cut off it's source, (your diet). Now if you are already a low carb dieter then examine any medications or supplement possibilities. One more thing, I have a friend who is a Chiropractor and set me up once with a probiotic product that boost the antibodies that are killed off during antibiotic course. If you know of any good homeopathic folks in your area check with them.

Have you tried douching with the yogurt? Take plain yogurt with active cultures and mix about a third of a cup with eight ounces of warm water. Douche with this twice a day for 3 days and your infection should be gone. I had yeast infections for many, many years until my gynecologist told me to try this. I have not had an infection in 4 years. Hope this helps.

Go to Wal-mart and look for AZO YEAST.. I went thru a bought with yeast and BV for over 2 years. This was the only thing that gave me relief, and I am happy to say I don't have the problems anymore.
