How long should a good encore last?

Some rock or pop bands include their encore as the second half of the concert. For example the Jamaican reggae musician Bob Marley and his band The Wailers were known to play the concerts of their last two tours in 1979 and 1980 in two halves: after the first half was performed they stopped performing for some minutes to tune their instruments again or to have a break, while the audience was demanding for more. They continued to play the concert with the encore which lasted about an hour. Sometimes they even played one or two additional songs after the actual encore.

I love a good encore at a concert. It should last at least two extra songs. If it's an encore of clapping then it should last a few minutes but then my hands get tired from clapping too much.

Yes, I do, but it is pretty hard to beat the first time. I am not quite sure how long a good encore should last because it really does depend on what it is. :-)

I do indeed. REM does "It's the End of the World as we Know it(and I Feel Fine)" as their encore to every show, and the show wouldn't be the same without it :)

I do, and a good encore can last a lifetime!!!
Or maybe thirty minutes, and then you go and form a new band.....at least that's what some people do.....
But it's all up to the performer, really.....

two or three songs...and all along the watch tower is a great encore!
