Orbital motion consists of a radius vector and a tangent vector. If these vectors vary with time , that the vectors are considered velocity vectors.
These velocity vectors add up vectorially yeilding a third vector which is the resultant velocity of the mass in orbital motion.In local space the resultant velocity vector cannot exceed the velocity of light.
