Nicholas Hammond is.... wrong!

2006-11-29 11:57:23 · update #1

Again
Nicholas Hammond was not the first actor to play Spider-Man.
Think out of the box.
I do not mean Garrett Morris in a Spider-Man suit on SNL, nor a cartoon.
Actor in a Suit as Spidey.
In an actual Story. Many stories, actually.

I can't remember the name of the actor, but I can tell you where. The Electric Company was on pbs for years in the late 70's early 80's. Everyday or every other day they would have short live action Spider Man episodes that were set up like the comic book. If fact each episode would have an actual comic opening up to the story. No comic book villains were used so they created new ones for the show. Spider Man was never shown out of costume and did not actually speak except through thought balloons.

Hoped that helped.

Okay...the first voice actor to play Spider-Man in 1967 was Canadian actor Paul Soles, who was also the voice of Hermey the Elf in "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" (1964).

The first live-action Spider-Man was played by Danny Seagren in the "Electric Company" skits beginning in 1971.

In 1977, Nicholas Hammond played Spider-Man/Peter Parker in a series of TV movies. They were... okay.

There have also been a couple of movies made outside the US called "Spider-Man", but I don't think they were the same character.
