What kind of snails do you have? Apple snails and mystery snails are NOT hermaphrodites, so you need a male and a female for them to breed. If they do mate, the female will crawl up above the water level to lay a bunch of pink eggs.

If you have malaysian trumpet snails or ramshorn snails, yeah, those are hermaphrodites and you will have baby snails in no time (not necessarily a good thing)

You can probably find live plants at any Petsmart or other fish/pet stores.

Any pet store that has tropical fish should have plants. Do you have Petco out there? They have both the plants in water and other plants that are packaged in a small plastic container that is attached to a card that has the name and info about the plant. Out here in Southern California, many private nurseries (the plant kind) also sell aquatic plants for ponds and water structures but I doubt if your area would have them now that it's snowing in your state. You can however, order plants online. Here's one of my favorites: http://www.aquaticplantdepot.com. Just a word of caution: snails are very prolific (and it depends on the species of snail as to whether they are self-fertile hermaphrodites. Many fresh water snails are of this type but not all). You may get more than you bargained for. I have beta fish (3 in 3 separate containers). I keep live plants with only 1 snail in each bowl as I do not want a plethora of snails hording up the beta bowl (now I'll have to watch to see if they will be self-reproductive). You can also grow cuttings of dracena (root them 1st) and they'll grow in the water (mine are in little plastic baskets with sponge and/or some kind of media that the roots can grow around). They grow submerged. I also have a Sagittaria and a Sword plant and they are growing well. Anyhow, good luck in your efforts.

regular big aquarium snails:
Okay in pet stores u can only get males u have to order the females online. I didn't know that when I got mine I have two ivory snails . And believe me u won't have any problem breading them if ones female and ones a male.

feeder snails :
If u mean those little feeder snails that I feed to my puffer, then u put their tank in sun light to grow algae and you'll have a million their both female and male so u can just have one and in a weak you'll have a million I swear.
