It's usually two sizes down, so in your case it would be a 4 (I love clothes shopping in the states, all my labels from there say size 14!)
However each company will use different measurements (much like uk high street stores can differ), so it might be best to contact the company to see what the measurements are that they base the sizes on, or see if there's a sizing chart on their website or something just to be on the safe side

I'm a Brit living in New York, when a friend of mine travelled to England, she was horrified that she had put on a whole dress size, until the assistant in the shop explained that UK and US dress sizes were different. From my experience, there is 1 size difference, a US 6 is a UK 8. I am not saying that this is a solid rule, but it has worked in the past as a general rule.
I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of the dress, if that is at all possible, rather than contacting the retailer, who may not have the right information.

I am a Brit living in the US and have found some of the time they are comprable. But mostly the sizing seemes to be one size off. I am a size 12 here in the US, but more a 14 in the UK.
Try e-mailing the company and see what they say to confirm.

I think it is one size less so in America you would be a size 6. Try on the internet. Go into a website selling clothes and usually they will give a European equivalent.
