No. The stigma of homosexuality being sinful stems from religion. The constitution says to separate church and state. The constitution also says that all men are created equal. Not allowing gay marriage (legal binding) is unconstitutional.

No, the only reason it's illegal is that it was banned by the Pope in the 10th century. Many religions, including my own, have no such restriction, to deny us the Right to Marry, and to receive all Legal rights and benefits thereto pertaining, is Religious Discrimination, and a clear case of Congress making a law respecting an establishment of religion (Christianity) and denying others free exercise thereof. The fact that the same sex ban doesn't pass Constitutional Muster is well known among the Human Rights Opponents of the Religious Reich, that is why they are working so hard to change the Constitution. Once they set a Precedent in Law that Freedom of Religion can be denied at will by the government, they may then turn the U.S. into a Fundamentalist Christian Theocracy. Same-sex marriage is an easy target, a lot of people oppose that for non religious reasons, this country's Puritanical roots run quite deep. Once they've got their foot in the door, the zealots can then go after abortion and bring back mandatory bible classes and forced participation in Christian services in public schools. Non-Christians deserve the same human rights as Christians, that a was basic belief of many of the Founding Fathers, which is why the First Amendment was written to begin with.

No it shouldn't be illegal. I am a gay man and here are my thoughts...

Alot of homosexuals like to get into relationships and only be in them for so long and then move on. Or just F*** around all the time. This making gay marriage hard legally. But at the samre time you have heter marriages that work nearly the same way. Difference is most gay guys just wanna f***. On the other hand I want to marry and get all the rights as a heterosexual couple. Thats my thoughts. Anyone agree???

First of all Gay Marriage is still not legal. I believe as a Citizen of the US that Gay Marriage should be legal. If Heterosexual marriages have a 35-40% of succeeding with the rights that are afforded to them under the law, blessings of the Community, etc. then can you begin to imagine the success rate for a Gay Marriage. Sadly enough is that people use the excuse that the foundation of family is the premise for marriage. O.k. so Women who can't have babies should not be allowed to marry? Men who are sterile? Women who have chosen not to give birth after a certain amount of children and then remarry? I say if you don't want to make it legal for ANYONE in U.S. to marry then make it illegal to get divorced. I wonder how many people would be running to the altar. I believe that the subject of Gay marriage is just like the subject of bi-racial marriage was 20-30 years ago. I believe people don't know what they don't know. If you have been taught all of your life that the color red is evil and you should stay away then you will probably do just that. In our society people have been taught that Gays and Lesbians are less then and therefore it is o.k. to treat them as second class citizens. ******, Queer, Dyke, etc. are names you hear thrown out like nothing on school playgrounds. So if all children are being taught by people who share the same view then we have a nation with second class citizens, hateful people and unfortunately way to many suicides. As times are changing I think we will see that the people who intimidate, put down, etc. the Gay and Lesbian population are going to be the unpolpular people. C'mon if everyone wants to call Gays and Lesbian freaks and perverts then let's just take a look at the men and women that are locked up for child mollestation. I guarantee you thatmost were married men or women, not Gay or Lesbian. Everone deserves the same respect and dignity and if it is not afforded to them, then when people say anything is possible if you really want it. try being a Gay man or lesbian for a day and having to be a chamilleon so that your identity will not hinder that job promotion or famil function. A person should be allowed to marry based on the content of their character maybe? poor is the day when someone in prison can get married with Tax Payer's money to have visits that permit him or her to make more children in which we pay for with our tax dollars. The gays though! No that would just be the end. '-)
Parents should teach ALL CHILDREN, regardless of their beliefs and fears, TOLERENCE. Gays aren't going anywhere, they've been around as long as time has gone by, it's just now they are coming out.

No I don't see what the big deal is. Love is love, the only reason it is not allowed is because most of the government is Christian and even though there is a separation of church and state that is why gay marriage isn't allowed, because of personal beliefs, they just won't admit it. People say it is because it goes against nature but so is littering, dumping wastes in the ocean, all the man-made toxins that go in the atmosphere, but yet you don't so most of America complaining about that to be illegal. Yes if you are truly in love then get married regardless of sex. People are just hypocrites. I'm not gay but I am open minded, saying gay people can't be married is the same as saying interracial couples can't either. It is discrimination.

If two people love each other to spend the rest of their lives together regardless if they are gay or straight or Bi, why should they not get married? There is no harm in it.

Laws cannot dictate how the heart feels for another person.

I am not gay but I am all for gay marrage.

No, it certainly should not be. The fact is that two gay people are just people who love and care about each other. Society needs to get out of the dark ages and see marriage as a matter of love and commitment, not a matter of gender.

the most debated question ever now a days.
it shouldn't.
they're human too.
there was a time when interracial marriages were illegal.
we just have to open our minds more.
maybe in the future everyone will be allowed to be married.
we could do with a lot less reproduction and more adoption in our world. gays can provide that.
it's functionalist, even by societal standards, bc gay men tend to be a lot nicer (yes, a stereotype, but they are), and it provides an image of less male violence/dominance which is bringing our society down if anything.
btw
i'm not gay. i'm straight.
i'm just an open thinker.

No, I'm not gay either but I say people should stop worrying about who's sexing who and really take a good look at some of the heinous things actually being committed in our world. I also like getting thumbs down from God fearing folk on Y!A.

As a non-gay person my opinion is that who-
ever wants to get married and as long as they
take their marriage vows seriously and are
fully committed to each other then they should
be able to get married. There is only one person
who can judge us for what we do and the rest
of us should accept more.
