Looking to be taught how to produce electronic music?

I'm a 27 year old (semi-retired) dj and looking into produce professionally and become a professional sound engineer. Willing to do whatever it takes, but like most people who used to be djs, funds are low around the holidays. I live in the Tampa Bay area and have some experience in old cakewalk and reason 3.0.

I'd like to be shown some of the tips / tricks on how to really put out a nice track in a short amount of time vs the time it takes me now (usually 24 producing hours, with it mostly finished)

Are there any free online courses? Anyone want to help a fellow producer out?

Maybe pick up Audition--it's one you gotta know. See what there is in your area that you can get your hands on, like a community radio station, a playhouse where you can run the board and submit your music. Perhaps haunt craigslist and hook up with some young film people to do a soundtrack. Get your creds, make a good demo tape and walk from record company to record company. Pick up a technical book or two on specifically what you want to learn.

Just some ideas. It took me awhile to get a job doing similiar stuff but I did it.
