Rent in NY?

What is the least one can realistically expect to pay for rent in the city, and what can of job can one get with some college. I still think I'm paying too much, and the jobs continue to be around $11/hr, 22 a year, people say I could do better up North I don't know ...

You will need a roomate or two. Rent is expensive. You might want to try Brooklyn, Queens, or Bronx. All are good and close to The City.
