The current White House chief of staff is Joshua Bolton, the former head of the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Andrew Card, long a friend of the Bush family, served as President Bush's chief of staff until March 2006, when the continuing political problems for the Bush Administration in lieu of the Iraq War, the Hurricane Katrina debacle in New Orleans and the controversy in Congress over handing the administration of some major American ports over to an Arab-owned company in Dubai led senior Republicans to push the president to make some changes to the faltering White House staff. Card was replaced by Bolton because Bolton was viewed as a better, and stronger manager who would be less afraid to rearrange the deck chairs in a WHite House that was fast becoming a counterpart to the Titantic.
