No. A self cleaning oven heats to temperatures that would cause the stone to break.

Pizza stones and stone cookware should never be cleaned with any type of detergent. They season like cast iron. Just scrape off the stuck food and rinse with hot water. They are supposed to get "ugly". The uglier they are the better they work! Self cleaning oven will crack it.

To get clean soak it in clear water until you can just wipe clean. Stones have to be seasoned. Best to rub with olive oil when you use it until it is seasoned. It will start to look brown and sort of dirty all the time but that's how it should look. Took me a while to get used to mine too. Love it now. Oh, also, you should preheat the stone before putting anything on it. Just slip it into the oven to preheat with the oven. That keeps stuff from sticking too. good luck!!!

It depends on what you're trying to do. If it's natural stone, it should be able to take the 700 degree heat of the self-cleaning cycle, and if it's ceramic it's already been through a kiln that heats to a much higher temperature. Now, if you're trying to get old, burned cheese and other foodstuffs off of it, your best bet is to just soak and wash it in the sink--no soap, please-- but if you're trying to get the stains, discoloration, et c., off of it, and there's no food stuck to it, just leave it the way it is.

No.. You don't clean a pizza stone. Simply scrape any stuck food with a spatula and wipe with a paper towel.
