To look up employment history...?

How do you look up your own employment history, if you are unsure of some of the details? Any free services?

Each year the IRS sends me information, based upon my employment, on how much money I have saved for retirement...it would only seem likely that they can give you the information you are seeking. Do not know if it would be free.
