I mean most people think all Asian people are Chinese. How can I tell that they are Korean, Chinese, Phillipno, Japanese or Vitnamese consider it is hard to tell by their face without asking? I am doing this for my sociology project.

Is really that hard to tell Asian apart?
I am Chinese myself,I guess it quite easy for me to tell.
First of all,the language they speak.Chinese,Japanese,Korean and other countries in Asia speak different language.Just like Europe,Italy,Germany and etc.
Japanese,Chinese ,Korean tend to be fairer than Vietnamese,Filipino.
Japanese and Korean mostly have smaller eyes compare to Chinese.
Japanese's face feature are sharper.

The secret way to tell is by measuring the exact tilt of their eyes away from their nose at an acute angle.
No but seriously just ask. There is no proof positive way to tell.

They have distinct features that connect them to their heritage..but personally think the Phillipnos and Koreans look the most different.

you can ask them
like you can tell easily when youve been around diff asian ppl your whole life .. or an amount of time.. cuz its hard to explain... you can google diff pictures of the different type of asian ppl and actually see the differences.. but its hard to explain it...
