I am on a LAN (local area network) that appears to have a heavy firewall and as a result I am unable to use Limewire for downloading music (yes I am aware of the dangers associated with Limewire but hey, I'm a cheapskate!). Does anyone know of any software or websites that can get me around this issue? Note that I have no control over this networks settings.

If my understanding is correct you do not have rights to allow programs access to the internet.

First I will need to know your OS, FireWall, and if you are the owner of your computer....

after I have this information I will allow you to gain access to the system account where you have all permissions on your computer (the computer will do your bidding, MUAHAHAHA!)

update your information and I will help

first off, limewire is designed for sharing legal personal content, and im sure that noaverage meant, was that he wants to "save money" in gas, and not drive over to his local garage band to ask them for a copy of there freely distributed CD. This way he can enjoy the songs from his crappy neighbors without leaving the comfort of his own house.

Secondly... if anyone is stealing anything from anyone it is the record companies who have been over charging for: Edison rolls, 78's, lp’s (33rpm),vinyl, 8track, reel to reel, cassette, cd's,dvds, etc etc.... for years and for years to come...

so... is it right for many of the modern day "artists" have more money then they really deserves because WE in this consumer based society are being socially engendered by record companies to buy products that we dont need, and paying through the nose for over priced CRAP that is not even good to begin with?

the answer is no... it is not right... limewire is very much more moral then the record company ever has been, and anyone who uses limewire I respect for being a true American hero for standing up against big business even when the odds are stacked against you.

At school or work, it is NOT your network.
You have NO RIGHT to bypass the security measures.
If you're at work, ask your IT department, they'll be happy to help!
If you're at school, complain to the Dean. I'm sure he'll be sympathetic.
Hmmm, that rhymes with pathetic, I wonder who is...
