There are already some good links provided, but here are a couple more to investigate:
http://weather.cod.edu/analysis/satrad.regional.html
There are a number of choices from that page.
If you want a "zoomed-in" visible image (that shows not much more than MO, for example), click on "SAT: 1km", then the dot over MO. Of course, the visible image is only good for daytime. For a loop of that, click on "Visible Satellite Animation" once the pop up screen gives you the Vis Sat image. Or the radar... 1km is the resolution. Each pixel on the image is 1km diameter of the ground. You won't find any higher res ("real time") imagery than that unless you wear a uniform to work and your boss is the commander in chief.
For nighttime, you'll have to use regional IR imagery, either enhanced or not. Choose the region you want, etc. etc.
I won't try to explain all the nuances. Play around with it.
Here's one other creation personalized just for you (recommended if you have broadband only):
http://wwwghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/get-goes?satellite=GOES-E%20CONUS&info=vis&quality=90&map=county&lat=39&lon=-94&zoom=1&width=1000&height=800%3EEastern%20United%20States
That's from GHCC, whose link was already given, but that's an example of what you can do with it. I placed Columbia slightly to right of center, because most weather approaches from the west (more or less). It's a vis sat image, but you can also do IR, enhanced IR, change colors, remove counties, add lat/lon, smaller res (I put it at 1km there, too), loops, smaller image, etc. Here's where to learn how:
http://weather.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/getsatellite.html
(Or click on "Build your own pictures" from front page.)
One last thing: There's not really any such thing as "real time" sat images. The satellites send the images down about once every 15 minutes to half hour...or longer...so the images are generally at least 15-20 minutes old. Radar updates ~every 7 minutes.

One of my favorite sites is GOES, from NASA. Try this page:
http://wwwghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/
You can also find another page on the same site where you can put in your latittude and longitude.
Hope this helps!
