You should search for "angel investors" in your area. http://www.inc.com/articles/2001/09/23461.html is a link to the directory of angel investors compiled by Inc Magazine. These are usually wealthy individuals or small groups who provide capital for start-ups or expanding small businesses. These investors will typically ask for an equity stake in the business, although their investment may be structured as a "convertible loan" (meaning you are obligated to repay the loan unless the investors choose to convert the loan into a pre-determined amount of equity in your business). I disagree with the previous answer which suggested looking for information from the SBA since the lenders who participate in SBA programs are not likely to work with start-up companies. Good luck !

Check out the Small Business Administration (SBA). They will direct you to Lenders. Search the website, it will be an excellent tool for your new business.

I wish you the best!
