Why do girls self-injure more then guys?

Women are more feeling creatures, so when they do not have a way to express their despair to anyone, the only thing they can control is self-injuring. Most statistics show that almost all of the women or girls that do it are above average intelligence and most people think of them as high achievers who achieve great things.
There is a book called A Bright Red Scream by Marilee Strong, it will give you case studies.
Men are action oriented for the most part, they relieve their stress in physical ways, sports, etc..........

Girls are simply more in touch with their emotions.
It's like how most boys don't like crying.
Same goes for self-injury. They don't wanna show their emotions.

Another interesting thing that just popped into my head, is that maybe it has to do with the abuse. Maybe females experience more abuse then males, liiiike sexual abuse. Girls tend to get raped more, and such.

Suicide rates don't actually seem to agree with your hypothesis.

If you're referring to self-harm, this is usually a manifestation of helplessness, and is generally an attention-seeking behaviour. Men tend to express helplessness in other ways.

It is pretty simple- females are more emotional than males, which makes us hate ourselves more. Not to mention the stereotype we are supposed to live up to- you know being a size 2 and looking like Barbie, only with bigger breasts.

Because we are more sensitive in feelings and emotions
and we take more abuse because we always have hopes it will stop. because of love .
