Tartan Day is not well known in the U.S. Most U.S. history centers on early immigrants from Britain. While there are many U.S. residents with ancestors from all corners of the UK, the distinctions among the Scots, the Irish, the Welsh, etc. are not commonly taught in public schools.

Tartan day is not a holiday in the US. I think most Americans don't even know what a "tartan" is. That'd be cool if we had that holiday though. Some of my ancestors are Scottish.

edit: Oops. I saw a couple US websites that talk about Tartan Day so I guess there are a couple of places that celebrate it. But, of course, most of the US doesn't know about this holiday.

Well since none of us know what Tartan Day is, we really don't. Maybe we should, come on over here and show us why. And not everyone celebrates St. Patricks and for most people in an excuse to get plastered.
