You are NOT alone. My 18 year old son is ADHD with the maturity of a 12 year old and he drives me insane! It is very difficult balancing the expectations and legal rights of a chronological 18 year old with the mentality of a 12 year old. We fight constantly and although I love him to death I am now at the point where I can't wait for him to finish high school and move out the constant tension in the house is bad for us all. My 16 yr old and I get along much better but even we have our moments and I am sure the tension from the fights with the 18 year old don't help. So although I can not give much advice except to stand firm and resolved in your major issues, I can affirm YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!

A 16 year old driving you mad? I'm guessing that you argue a ton? Maybe? Lots of people have told me that the best way to get somebody to do something isn't to demand it of them, but to tell them how good they are and how proud they are of them and how great it would be if they cold do it. How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnagie is a pretty good book on human relations, you should try reading that.

You dont say in what way she drives you mad,but have you tried talking to her like she's an adult.I have a 14 year old daughter and by talking openly to her from a young age she's more like my best friend now.

look on the website for Parenting teenagers. there are some great sites to help you. Open up the communication with her and talk about how her behaviour is hurting you. You could say "When you do .............(whatever she is doing) i feel like................... and I would like you to do (a different behaviour) thanks. this way you have assertively told her what it is you dont like and how it makes you feel and what behaviour you would like her do do. Look on the net for assertive communication tips. God bless
