Baskets look great, but they also are SO functional.

One of the biggest benefits of using a basket to carry things is that it's sturdy, attractive, and reusable. Which is important to the environment. Before plastic baggies people used to do their marketing with a large basket.

Baskets put up with a lot of abuse especially when made of sturdy materials, not just wicker, wicker isn't as strong. Prior the widespread use of cardboard boxes baskets were used to ship and transport things.

Baskets can be very attracting, much more than a cardboard box, paper or plastic bags. You can get fabric liners to match your outfit or decor.

They can also be great for keeping what you are carrying private. You can use a lid (some even fasten securely) or you can get a liner that covers the contents. You can also throw a dishtowel or other fabric on top.

1st - dead cats hate being carried in anything else, they do.

2nd - they have wider bases than say, a jug, and therefore fit on the natives heads easier.

Last - how else would you get your groceries to that hot check out clerk. if you didn't have the basket, you would like a fool trying to flirt and you couldn't even see over all the crap in your hands. The Herp-B-Gone would be all up front because it's easier to carry in your hands and with the basket you can stick it in the bottom and then casually mix it in with other products on the belt. How embarrassing

2. you can fit more in a basket than a bag cause its more durable
3. and its a great idea to use if your going food shopping so you dont have to waste all those paper/plastic bags almost like your helping out the environment as well as make things easier on yourself :)

5. it has to go with you, so if you have to walk across an isle to get something, it goes with you.. if you have a buggie and you leave it sit on other side of isle, your purse or something could get stolen..
