I just got offered a job for the same money im making now. I love the people I work with now, but I dont like the direction they are pushing me. Is it proper to tell the job that offered me the position that my boss offered me more money to stay? Will that make them say "adios" and not deal with me anymore. Im about 90 percent sure they haven't interviewed anyone else and I was the only person that went thru their rigerous interviewing. Or should I use the new position offer against my boss now and say I got offered a position that gives me more power and see if he moves me up on the ladder since a guy just got fired a week ago. What should I do, what is the most imporant factor in making this decision?

Be honest. First ask yourself if you really want to move. If that is no, then your decision is made. If it depends then lay all the facts down and make a decision. You should not lie or use this as leverage. Just go to your current boss and ask him about the new position. He/she may offer it to you, or may say no way. Then you have all the information to decide on.

Well first, don't lie to either. If you haven't been offered more at your present job don't say you were. If you want more responsibility, certainly let your current boss know you are interested with some comment like "I'm interested in making a move." and discuss possibilities with your current. This will also put your current boss on notice. The issue is where will you be happier and doing what you want to do.

I would stay at the job with the nice people. From experience, I can say I would rather work with great people and make a little less money than work with people I don't necessarily like and make a little more. With that said, I would tell the other company that your boss promoted you and you will not change unless that can at least offer close to that. Good luck to you.

If you want the job and you want more money, make a counter offer and see what they say. Do not tell them that your present employer has offered more money, that will caste doubt on your willingness to actually take up a new position.

If you have applied for a new job, interviewed for it etc etc, then you must have intended to leave. Don't threaten your present employer with your new offer. Your present employer is unlikely to offer you more, he will expect that you will be gone soon whatever he does.

When asking for a raise or promotion, don't make things up. Just ask for what you want.

first make a decision which job you want to go for. which one you feel happy about. tell your boss about the position if he offer you position think about it see if its good or bad.

its in your hands, i would say do what you think will be best for future.
