Yes
Some of us live in areas where public transport has never operated. When I was last on Job Seekers Allowance, I had to drive four miles to get a bus to the Job Centre.
For some of us, a car is a necessity, not a luxury.

i had a friend who was selling a half decent car cheaply, it was £1700 an immigrint came with a giro for £1700 the wife didnt want to do it on princle but her husband made her take the money. the next day she got on the phone to the jobcentre thinking it may be a dodgy cheque, but no, infact it wasnt. infacty fact! they even paid the £1200 insurance the £200 tax and even the £40 MOT! see where your tax goes! and then when and englishman comes to the dole he gets nothing and a back dated housing benefit claim, wellcome to england, please ******* wreck it!

yes you are but you cannot claim anything towards it- only the equivalent of zone travel on a weekly basis. Nothing towards, tax, insurance, MOT and servicing. that's all up to you if you choose to take on the added expense you cannot expect the social services to pay for a 'luxury' you cannot afford to keep on the road. That's why they'll give you money back for the cheapest mode of transport and like i said before- the rest is up to you to pay

Having a car isn't counted in your claim - only cash assets, savings, shares, pensions and property and other income. It dones't stop you getting JSA but it will eat into your money.
