I'm an evangelical Christian, and I don't buy those practices.

Perhaps they are illustrating the concept of "surrender to God", where all their emotions and physical impulses are replaced with feelings of profound joy. It feels great, I'm sure, but you are correct, that it doesn't show any sort of self-control.

I wonder if this behavior is actually evil - if these people, by using God as a device to manipulate their own controls and emotions, are abusing the name of God. At the least, I would consider it an unhealthy practice.

We are taught that by peoples "fruits" we will know if they are false prophets or not.

A fig tree doesn't give us briars.

So pray, read the word, love God go to jesus. I dont believe anyones opinion can discern if somthing is "godly"

I have seen some of those videos and they certainly seem to me to be a mockery though. Because jesus never taught anything like that. And I dont see how that is turning from sin and loving god. It seems like alot of creative physical stress relief.

God be exalted.
