anything you do can cause problems later on. Typing, working as a cashier, playing instruments. Any part of your body repeatedly used wears out as you get older.
I've seen an elderly teacher play in the orchestra, he was at retiring age. He has arthritis and it did hurt him to play the violin at times. But lots of people get physical problems of that sort making it hard to do things they could do when they were younger.
I have seen books about playing without pain. There are ways to hold instruments, etc. that are supposed to help with these problems. Try this link:

I have a friend who is a cellist and has carpal tunnel. I'm not a doctor, but it makes sense to me that the wrist movement needed for bowing could cause carpal tunnel.

When you play fast songs on the violin, your fingers are making similar movements to when you are typing. So I would say that it would be possible to get it from playing Violin.

I have played for years. My left wrist does ache at times-just depends on how much playing you do. It is possible.

It is highly unlikely.
