unlike some vehicles GM doesn't use a inertia cut out system. they use a fuel pump relay ,fuse's, and the oil pressure switch. the computer cycles the fuel pump while cranking, you can hear the pump buzz or whine if you crank the engine or cycle the ignition then release the key . when the vehicle starts the pump will continue to operate.there also is a single wire located under the hood which is a fuel pump test wire it has a black plastic connector and is a female spade connection. if you locate this wire you can supply it with battery positive voltage and bypass all controls and run the pump direct this a test. another simple thing to do is tap the fuel tank while someone cranks the engine if it starts the pump is no good.if it starts don't think it will keep going as this is temporary. another common problem on these vehicle is the computer harness. the computer is located ahead of the right front wheel ahead of the plastic inner fender remove the fender(plastic) and look at the harness for corrosion or broken wires.and repair as necessary hope this of help to you

gm cars don`t use those so called inertia cut-off devices. There is a relay in the elec center fuse box.that`s cycled on by the pcm when key is turned on.it then turns off if engine is not started in about 10 seconds. If you are experiencing a fuel pump thats not running then you need to ck for power to gray wire at rear elec plug-in.

there is no shutoff that you can do yourself, if you don't want it to work you will have to pull the fuse to it in the fuse panel.
