This happens to lots of ladies, and if you have not had sex, then you are NOT pregnant. It's just irregular periods, and it is most common when you are young and have only recently started having periods. Don't worry about it for now. If you get married and want to start a family, and this is still happening, then you might want to ask your doctor to check things out to make sure you are going to be able to have children without taking extra meds.

It is not unusual to stop and start when your menstruation begins. It can take up to a year to stabilize your periods, so don't get alarmed. Something you should think about, though, is that there is no reason to be embarrassed about anything connected with menstruation. It's a perfectly normal body process, and 50% of the population menstruates. So you aren't unique, you aren't alone, and no one is going to laugh at you. At times, almost everyone has had either a problem with periods, or questions about it, and the only way to sort things out is to ask your mom or ask your doctor. Certainly your doctor has probably heard it all before. You might feel more comfortable with a female doctor, too.
You don't say how old you are, but if you started very young (like 12) it's quite normal to stop and start for up to a couple of years. Things like your weight can also affect your periods. If you are very much underweight, often your periods will stop. Most anorexics don't have periods. So there are a number of factors that can be involved.
Meanwhile, relax, and if nothing happens by the new year, then do ask your mom to take you to the doctor.

I agree with the posts that a period is irregular in the first few months. It will straighten out, but it might take some time. Its a giant pain because it can just show up when you least expect it!!!
It also can vary in intensity, extremely heavy one month and painful cramps, and then be lighter the next month.
What you should really be thinking of is talking to your mom or the nurse or school doctor. Please don't forget that your mom was once a teenager too, and she's gone through this herself. It's totally embarrassing, I know, but give it some thought.

It's totally normal for your period to be irregular during your first couple years of having it. If you skip three months, then you might want to get it checked out, but skipping one month isn't much of a probably since you just started and are a virgin. During your first years, it might come a week or two earlier or later than you expect. I started mine four years ago and mine are still irregular and every once in a while it will skip, and in my case its probably still irregular since I'm so light weight. You should try to get more comfortable talking to your mom about it, I know it's hard, but she could probably give you some good advice every once in a while.

Don`t worry right now. When a woman starts her period it some times is real unpredictable in its cycle. If this continues after some time you need to tell your doctor. You might need some help at first getting regular. Remember some times stress or just the type of activites you do can effect it.

If you are a virgin, there is no possibility that you are pregnant. Your periods might not be regular yet because your just started having them. Another possibility would be that you are anemic. Have you been dieting and not getting enough iron? Try taking an iron tablet everyday and see if that helps. You should also talk to your doctor about your concern. Believe me, he/she has heard everything and so you should not feel embarrassed to talk to him/her about any health concerns. Take care.

When you first start your period, it's not set. Your body is just getting adjusted, it takes quite a while for your body to adjust it. Especially if you have had a big life-changing even lately like exercising, taking medicines, anything like that. But, even though you're shy, if you don't have it, maybe there's a reason, and you should go to a woman doctor...she's the only one that can help you, really.

When I first started I missed quite a few periods. For a few months, I thought maybe I just hadnt actually started yet. And I was right. It came back a few months after that and everything was fine. Dont worry about it!

This is very common. It just means that your hormones are not regulated yet. If you continue to have irregular periods after a year, consider going to the doctor. But unless you are having problems (like bad pain or something), I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm sure you are perfectly fine. Yes, it is normal when you first start out to miss some or have a really messed up cycle. Give it some time. If you don't start bleeding again in a few months, get your courage up and tell your ma. She'll understand. : )
