Wow hunny!
Of course not.
Nothing can be too fancy. For my semi formal I also wore a halter dress and it fab! All my girlfriends and some of the guys noticed it, and liked it. Black is a very calm colour on dresses especially halter dresses. Make sure you don't wear reall clunkey earrings or jewlery. Something soft, gentle & light. We don't want to over-do-it with the jewlery.
I hope you have fun hun♥♥♥

Absolutely not! It's YOUR dance, and it's special! Do your thing and don't worry about anybody else. If you feel good about how you look, you'll knock 'em dead at the dance! No matter if the other girls are in jeans or formals!!

You don't say where you live or what color the halter dress is... Black is NORMALLY reserved for very dressy, formal affairs. However, now a days, more and more ladies are wearing black to weddings, Christmas parties, etc... GO for it! Consider a filmy shawl in multiple colors or pattern, or a striking solid color one in say, purple or teal. Same with shoes and purse. Even accessories and nail polish!

Enjoy yourself and have a great time!
