I will add my voice to those who say that all the countries in Central America, the countries out toward the Atlantic from Central America and alongside Canada and Greenland are indeed part of North America. It is not a trick question unless you believe that North America is only made up of 3 countries.
There are 7 continents in the world:
North America
South America
Africa
Europe
Asia
Australia/Oceania
Antarctica
Central America is not its own continent.

Srry if this doesn't help, but I looked on Infoplease.com, which is what i use for most of my homework (im in the 7th grade, Chicago) and the only countries in north america are canada, mexico, and the us.
BUT!! I just looked on wikipedia, and it says that it can also include Greenland, Bermuda, St. Pierre, and Miquelon.
Hope this helps. Wow, i never knew 3rd grade teachers would give THESE kinds of questions. I'm glad my 3rd grade teacher was really nice...=)

North America, the planet's 3rd largest continent, includes (23) countries and dozens of small island possesions and territories - mostly in the Caribbean. It contains all Caribbean and Central America countries, Canada, Mexico and the United States of America - three of the largest countries on the planet, as well as Greenland - the world's largest island.

If you look at a map, you will see that Central America is really part of North America. You can take your pick, but let's go with Honduras, where I spent 3 years, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

There are no others in NORTH America. Wonder if the teacher meant in North and South America?

Costa Rica and Panama are in Central America - that's probably what she meant.
