I was considering getting gel overlay on my nails because my nails break easily. Are gel fingernails not stylish?... I notice alot of people don't wear them anymore.

Try making your nails stronger. Gel overlay will only make them harder as long as you keep maintaining it. It is alot cheaper to get a good nail polish such as the sally hansen nail hardners. Than getting them done at the salon. Gel overlay will make your nails weaker.

I live in a pretty metropolitan area, and I still see gel nails quite a bit, but they're no longer being done in the 'French Manicure' style (pink base, white tips), they are much shorter, and either polished or done with the 'natural' color of gel. But yes, they are still in style, at least where I am at (they film TV shows in my city, so I'm guessing that it's still considered stylish). Luck!

I think gel nails look more natural than acrylics. My friend has gels and you can't even tell they are not her natural nails.

The thing that is making your nails break is the acetone in the nail polish remover. Try a non-acetone remover.

i got gel nails, but it realllly hurt to get them off. they actually made my nails weaker. but, when i had them on, i really liked them. just not when they grew out. you can get them and bring back the style! have fun!
